That's about the only thing left that the politicians can't get in on! ... It's a very precious thing, I think, very precious." Ernie Carpenter, old-time fiddler.

6/1/03: Maggie and Suzzy Roche grace the stage of Berkeley's Freight and Salvage. Oh, they were sooooo good. If you don't know about the Roches, get hip, my friend.

story.

Living Room.

This is Erik Pearson's busiest month of the year accompanying storyteller Diane Ferlatte. Not just for kids...

February 8: On a sunny Saturday, sittin' on a stage at the dock of the bay, Sonya and Erik played a few songs on West Coast Live. Real audio archive available... their songs are at top of the show, and about 1/2 way in.

Magic City Chamber of Commerce was formally established September 24, 2002 at their debut show in San Francisco! MCCC is: Sonya Hunter (vocals, gtr.), Chris Kee (stand-up bass, vocals) David Phillips (pedal steel, dobro, vocals), Erik Pearson (vocals, gtrs, banjo), Peter Tucker (drums), and Jane Selkye (vocals, accordion) - covering themselves and everyone else from George Harrison to the Roches, in a lush-country kinda way. Keep on eye on Shows for future performances. Sonya is pleased as punch to be part of this harmony-loaded sextet.

August 2002

"Sun in Mind" is comin' to town! Recorded in both San Francisco and Brooklyn with a host of fine players, this is the singer-songwriter's most adventurous album to date. In the words of Sonya's friend (and Pinecones guitarist) Andy Cowitt, "The singing is stronger than ever, the arrangements are beautiful (somehow both sparse and lush, meticulous and organic) and the songs and playing are great." It's available now online, after August 30th in your neighborhood record store, or at her record release party: September 8th, at the Makeout Room, San Francisco.
